New NZHIT Board Announced

NEW NZHIT BOARD ANNOUNCED

At its annual general meeting (AGM) held on the 9th of December 2020 the successful nominees for NZ Health IT's (NZHIT) board election process were announced. With 14 high calibre nominees to choose from to fill only 3 available positions on the board NZHIT members were spoilt for choice and, following an electronic voting process, they selected the following to represent them for the next two years -

Kate Reid, Director of Digital Health, Deloitte (re-elected)

Harry Hawke, CEO Webtools Health (re-elected)

Vidhya Makam, COO, Mycare Ltd (newly elected)

They join the 3 elected board members who have 1 year remaining on their current term through to the AGM in 2021 -

Russell Craig, National Technology Manager, Microsoft NZ

Ross Peat, Executive Chair & Co-owner, HealthSoft NZ & HealthSoft Australia

Tony Wai, CFO & Head of Corporate Services, ProCare Health Ltd

Kate was first elected to the NZHIT board in November of 2014 and has been its chair for nearly 4 of those years whilst Harry had just finished his first 2-year term and both had put themselves back in the mix for re-election for another 2-year term through to the end of 2022.

The newcomer to the board is Vidhya Makam who has a depth of experience in the digital health sector. In 2019 she was placed amongst New Zealand's top 50 most innovative CIOs by the CIO New Zealand publication.

Sadly, members attending the AGM had to farewell long serving board member, Kate Rhind of Healthpoint, who had been involved as an elected board member for the past 11 years. Her contribution and dedication to representing NZHIT member's interests over such a long period of time is significant and members acknowledged all that she'd done to advance the cause of digital health in New Zealand. Also stepping down at the AGM was Jacqui Williams of Orion Health who had served 2 years as a co-opted board member.

The chair and deputy chair to serve for the next 12 months will be elected by the new board at its first meeting to be held on the 16th of December 2020.
