US Regulations Regarding Mandatory Adoption of HL7 FHIR R4 APIs - Released Yesterday!

The overnight announcement of these regulations in the USA is a major landmark in the implementation of HL7 FHIR.

The USA is the first country to mandate directly the use of FHIR APIs for key use cases, notably patient access to data, together with strict anti-data blocking rules. The regulations take effect over a three year period and, given the over all dominance of US companies in this domain, are likely to cement the position of Release 4 as the version of FHIR that’s used in national systems worldwide.
