NZHIT Hybrid Networking Event

NZ Privacy Commissioner John Edwards

Thursday, November 25 in Wellington or Online

NZHIT is excited to bring you a hybrid networking event, where you can hear from John Edwards, New Zealand's Privacy Commissioner!

COVID-19 has meant that we have unfortunately been unable to host this event in-person in Auckland. So we've pivoted and we're offering a limited ticketed event to attend in Wellington and the chance to join online if you're still under restrictions or in a part of the country outside of Wellington.

Come join us, whether in-person or online, for one of John's final events before he leaves for his position as Information Officer in the United Kingdom in December.

If you registered for the Auckland event, your tickets remain valid. Your link to view the online event will be contained within your tickets and received as a reminder. We will be in touch with you all to let you know. You are welcome to share the event details with your networks to attend online.

What the event will cover:

John is an outstanding and engaging speaker who brings the often tricky to navigate topic of privacy alive.

He's here to answer all your questions relating to privacy in the digital health sector, and how it relates to what you build, your current systems, and what you share.

With the recent DHB cyberattacks, privacy has been highlighted as more important than ever.

When: Thursday 25 November 2021

Time: 4:30pm - 7:30pm in-person or 5:30pm - 6:30pm online

Where: Alphero, Level 4, 7 Dixon Street, Wellington 6011 or online

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have 40 limited tickets available for the in-person Wellington event. Get your tickets today!

Please note COVID-19 Level 2 Government regulations will apply to the in-person networking event in Wellington. Please see below for further details.

John Edwards - Privacy Commissioner

John was appointed to the independent statutory position of Privacy Commissioner in February 2014. He is currently serving his second five year term. He provides independent comment on significant personal information policies and issues. Prior to his appointment, John practiced law in Wellington for over 20 years specialising in information law while representing a wide range of public and private sector clients. He has acted in legal roles for the Ministry of Health, State Services Commission, Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet and Inland Revenue Department. For 15 years, he held a warrant as a district inspector for mental health and has also been a district inspector for intellectual disability services.

COVID-19 Event Policy:

We are really excited to be able to host an in-person and online event with the Privacy Commissioner before he leaves for his new UK role. Many thanks go to Alphero for making this possible. Currently we are subject to Alert Level 2 restrictions and to ensure we comply with Government regulations the following policies will apply:

• If you are unwell, please do not attend

• Please sanitise your hands upon entering the venue

• Upon arrival and during mingling time, we request that you please wear a mask

• Seating will be placed at 1m distance between people in the venue for the Privacy Commissioner’s talk

• Individual nibbles and drinks will be appropriately provided under Covid-19 regulations and served at the time of being seated (please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements)

• Please place your mask back on once you have finished eating and drinking

• A maximum of 40 people can attend the event

• Please visit the COVID-19 website for further clarification of these regulations.

We really appreciate Alphero making their premises available. Alphero, for the benefit of everyone that works there, made the decision to adopt a vaccination requirement for their site. We respect that decision and want to support them in honouring their commitment to their team. Therefore, we ask that if you are not vaccinated or if you would prefer not to disclose your vaccination status that you not attend the event in-person and that you join us online instead.

We are really looking forward to finally being able to bring you this event, even with Level 2 restrictions!
