On behalf of British High Commission and the Consortium for Medical Device Technologies/MedTech CoRE, I would like to invite you to a workshop to meet Prof. Patrick Bonnet, Director of UK’sNational Innovation Centre for Ageing (https://www.ncl.ac.uk/nica/vision/).

Prof Bonnet is here to investigate potential applied translational research partnerships with groups and organisations who are actively working on the creation of new consumer products and services supporting people to remain healthy, active, independent and connected to their communities. This is a direct objective within the Ageing Grand Challenge (similar to NZ’s National Science Challenges) which is one of the four Grand Challenges within the UK Industrial Strategy and reflects the global market opportunity that an ageing population represents. Related to this are two other Grand challenges, Future of Mobility and AI/Data. The intersection of these Grand Challenges is also of interest. See also https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/industrial-strategy-the-grand-challenges/industrial-strategy-the-grand-challenges

Additionally, the National innovation Centre for Ageing is opening a 100,000 sq. ft. centre in 2020, which will be unique in Europe and Prof Bonnett would be very interested to have exploratory conversations with any organisation (both business and applied/industrial research) who might be interested in co-location in the new building.

We are developing a programme for a 2hr workshop with some presentations from key groups from NZ and Prof Bonnett. This is restricted to 20 people (research and industry) and is by invitation to ensure that we have an environment conducive for discussion and networking.
